Nigerian Musician Wizkid Surpasses 11 Billion Streams on Spotify
Wizkid, a leading figure in the Nigerian Afrobeats genre, has become the first African artist to exceed 11 billion total streams on Spotify. The milestone was announced by the music chart platform ChartsAfrica on Tuesday.
In a post shared on X, ChartsAfrica referred to Wizkid as a “global superstar” and highlighted his achievement as a significant moment in Spotify’s history.
“First African artist to reach each milestone in Spotify history,” the announcement read.
The news follows the recent release of Wizkid’s collaboration with DJ Tunez, titled State of Mind, which debuted on May 15, 2026. On its first day, the single amassed over 685,000 streams globally on the platform.
