Nigerian Singer Niniola Apata Announces Death of Husband
Nigerian afro-house singer Niniola Apata has announced the death of her husband, Michael Ndika. The news was shared in a series of emotional posts on her Instagram story early Wednesday.
Ndika, who was the Chief Executive Officer of NaijaReview, a multimedia platform dedicated to Afro-house and contemporary African music, reportedly passed away, although the circumstances surrounding his death remain undisclosed.
In one of her posts, Niniola expressed her grief, stating, “God took him.” In another, she wrote, “My husband died.” She further reflected on their 13 years together, stating, “God took him. 13 years. 13 f***ing years,” while sharing photos of the couple.
The singer has not elaborated on the details surrounding his passing, choosing to keep her personal life mostly private.
Niniola, 39, rose to fame as a standout contestant on Project Fame West Africa in 2013, which served as a launchpad into the Nigerian music industry. Since then, she has become a prominent figure in Afro-house music, with her 2017 hit single “Maradona” receiving international acclaim. The track has caught the attention of notable figures in the music industry, including DJ Snake, Drake, Timbaland, and Beyoncé.
