2026 World Cup: Tuchel drops Cole Palmer, Foden from England squad
England manager Thomas Tuchel has announced the exclusion of forward Cole Palmer from Chelsea and midfielder Phil Foden from Manchester City from his provisional squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Also omitted from consideration is Manchester United defender Harry Maguire.
Tuchel is set to officially unveil his 26-man squad on Friday.
Foden was part of Tuchel’s previous roster in March for friendly matches against Japan and Uruguay. Both he and Palmer started in the match against Japan, but Tuchel noted they “struggled to make an impact.”
In related developments, reports from the BBC indicate that Newcastle’s Dan Burn, Manchester City’s Nico O’Reilly, Arsenal’s Noni Madueke, and Brentford’s Jordan Henderson may be in line for a call-up.
