School certificates without digital skills could stop your jobs – Otti tells Abia youths

Otti Urges Abia Youths to Embrace Digital Skills for Job Security
ABIA STATE — Governor Alex Otti has encouraged youths in Abia State to supplement their academic qualifications with advanced digital skills, asserting that such competencies are essential for navigating the contemporary job market.
Otti delivered his remarks on Wednesday during the opening of the three-month Techrise Cohort 3 programme, which features 850 participants. He emphasized that a mere reliance on academic certificates is inadequate for securing employment in today’s competitive landscape, particularly without accompanying digital skills that foster innovation and entrepreneurship.
Represented by Uzor Nwachukwu, the state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Otti stated that the training program aims to empower participants to become entrepreneurs, innovators, and job creators in order to combat unemployment.
“Do not just look for certificates. Seek deep competence and hands-on problem-solving skills,” Otti advised attendees.
Oge Maduka, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, highlighted that the training will encompass areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, product design, software development, and data engineering. Participants will also explore various facets of digital innovation and other emerging technologies.
This initiative marks a significant step towards equipping the youth of Abia State with the necessary tools to thrive in the evolving job market.
