Ogun to empower 100,000 residents through monthly cash intervention scheme

Governor Dapo Abiodun Announces Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme
Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has unveiled the Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme (RHWDP), a significant initiative designed to provide monthly cash assistance to between 50,000 and 100,000 residents over the next year.
Abiodun shared details about the program during the opening of the 15th Synod of the Remo Anglican Diocese on Friday, which took place at Our Saviour’s Anglican Church in Ikenne. The Synod was held under the theme “The Empty Tomb: An Authentic Proof of the Living Saviour, Jesus Christ.”
In his address, the governor emphasized his administration’s commitment to reconstructing the Sagamu–Ode Lemo Road. He highlighted the importance of collaboration between the government and the Church in fostering a peaceful and equitable society.
“The Church has shown unwavering dedication to spiritual renewal and community development, which is crucial in these times that demand strong moral and faith-based leadership,” said Abiodun. He noted that the Church’s commitment to promoting peace and uplifting humanity remains an inspiration in Nigeria.
Abiodun described the Synod as a vital forum for prayer, doctrinal guidance, and decision-making that strengthens the Christian community while positively impacting societal development beyond the Anglican denomination. He praised the Church’s contributions to education, healthcare, youth development, and community welfare, recognizing it as a key partner in nurturing responsible citizens and ethical leadership.
“The Church has historically served as a moral compass, advocating for justice and supporting the vulnerable,” he stated. “Our administration is dedicated to creating renewed opportunities across Ogun State.”
As the electoral season approaches, Abiodun called on the Church to uphold principles of truth and responsibility, encouraging congregants to register and vote.
The governor remarked on the significant reduction of political tension in Ogun State compared to the past. He noted that the current primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have been marked by peace and transparency.
“Reflecting on my own primary experiences seven years ago, the difference is striking. The current atmosphere is one of peace, in sharp contrast to the violence of the past,” he said.
In his sermon, Bishop Olusina Fape of the Remo Diocese commended Abiodun for implementing his ISEYA development agenda effectively across Ogun’s three senatorial districts.
Fape highlighted the recently inaugurated Gateway International Airport as a transformative addition that promises to enhance travel and stimulate economic activity in the state. He also praised the Light Up Ogun Project, noting its potential to attract investments, with reliable electricity being a critical achievement of the current administration.
