Troops arrest suspect over deadly fight in Plateau

Suspect Arrested in Bassa Local Government Area Killing
Plateau State – Troops from Operation Enduring Peace have apprehended a suspect linked to the homicide of a man following an altercation in Bassa Local Government Area.
Security sources reported that the incident took place around 2 a.m. on May 23 in Bomo village, where two residents, Sani Haruna and Bashiru Saidu, were engaged in a violent dispute.
According to security expert Zagazola Makama, Bashiru Saidu allegedly inflicted serious stab wounds on Sani Haruna during the confrontation. Troops from Sector 1 of Operation Safe Haven arrived at the scene to find Haruna severely injured.
Haruna was transported to a medical facility in Miango but was later pronounced dead by medical personnel.
In the wake of the incident, the troops, in collaboration with the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, initiated a search operation for the suspect. Authorities confirmed that the suspect has since been taken into custody for investigation and potential prosecution.
Local authorities have reiterated their commitment to ensuring peace and security within Plateau communities. They also encouraged residents to resolve disputes peacefully rather than resorting to violence.
