Pope to release major artificial intelligence manifesto

Vatican to Unveil Manifesto on Artificial Intelligence
Pope Leo XIV will release a significant manifesto on artificial intelligence as the Vatican addresses escalating ethical and social concerns related to the rapid advancement of this technology. The document, titled Magnifica Humanitas (Magnificent Humanity), is scheduled for unveiling on Monday, May 25, at the Vatican in Rome.
This marks the Pope’s first extensive teaching focused on the implications of artificial intelligence for human dignity, workers’ rights, and societal well-being.
According to Vatican officials, the manifesto will explore a range of issues pertaining to artificial intelligence, including the threats posed by autonomous warfare, mass surveillance, digital misinformation, and the growing influence of algorithms on human decision-making.
Pope Leo XIV has consistently highlighted the potential dangers of allowing machines to make critical life-and-death choices, emphasizing the imperative that technology should serve humanity rather than supplant it.
