2027: Peter Obi, Jonathan, Makinde being positioned to divide Tinubu’s southern votes – Osoba

Former Ogun State Governor Raises Concerns Over Southern Vote Division Ahead of 2027 Elections

Ogun State’s former Governor, Olusegun Osoba, has expressed concerns that prominent political figures are positioning themselves to fragment President Bola Tinubu’s support in the South for the 2027 general elections.

Osoba made these statements on Sunday while announcing the results of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary at the Presidential Lodge in Abeokuta. He cautioned party members not to be complacent due to the votes garnered by President Tinubu in the primary election.

During his address, Osoba alleged an orchestrated effort to diminish Tinubu’s electoral margin in Southern Nigeria as the elections approach. He urged party members to remain vigilant, asserting that the belief that they face no opposition is a misleading narrative.

Bringing attention to this potential political maneuvering, Osoba remarked, “There is a strong gang-up against us. They are plotting to field several candidates from our region in the South. Peter Obi has emerged, Goodluck Jonathan is quietly waiting in the background, and Seyi Makinde has been grandstanding. All these appear to be attempts to divide votes from the South.”

He called on party affiliates to prepare for the challenges ahead as the political landscape continues to evolve.
