Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association Condemns Killings in Kogi State

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has condemned the recent killings of several pastoralists in the Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State, demanding justice for the victims.

In a statement released on Monday, Suleiman Muhammed, the State Secretary of MACBAN, characterized the violence as barbaric and unacceptable. The association reported that the victims—men, women, and children—were attacked under circumstances that remain unclear.

Among those killed were Isiaka Lawal, Larai Musa, Abdullahi Isiaka, Isah Isiaka, Saleh Isiaka, Samsiya Adamu, Asma’u Siuni, Basullube Musa, and Bello Musa. Additionally, three individuals—Husseini Haruna, Abdullahi Abdullahi, and Sa’ida Haruna—were injured and are currently receiving medical treatment.

MACBAN expressed serious concern over the incident and called on security agencies to take immediate action. “The association denounced the attack and urged security agencies to promptly investigate the incident, apprehend those responsible, and ensure they are brought to justice,” the statement read.

The organization cautioned that ongoing violence against pastoral communities could escalate tensions and undermine peaceful coexistence in the region. “The continued targeting of innocent pastoral communities poses a serious threat to peaceful coexistence and could worsen tensions among residents if urgent measures are not taken,” the statement added.

MACBAN also appealed to the Federal Government, the Kogi State Government, and humanitarian organizations for relief materials and medical support for affected families. While mourning the victims, the association urged its members to remain calm and law-abiding, encouraging cooperation with security agencies conducting investigations.
