Kano State Police Arrest Suspected Drug Dealers, Seize Contraband in Operations

The Kano State Police Command has apprehended several individuals suspected of drug trafficking and confiscated significant quantities of Tramadol and Cannabis Sativa during a series of targeted operations.

The police announcement, made by Public Relations Officer CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa on Monday night, detailed the actions taken by officers from the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) and the Gezawa Police Division. The operations were executed based on credible intelligence supplied by community members.

In one notable operation, two suspects, Abdulsalam Muhammad and Murtala Sani, were detained in the Nassarawa GRA area. Authorities reported that the pair were found in possession of a Bagco sack rumored to contain illegal narcotics. During interrogation, one suspect allegedly revealed that the sack contained Tramadol, purportedly supplied by associates who remain at large.

A search of the bag uncovered 23 rolls of Tramadol, each containing 10 packs. The statement from the police indicated that the operation took place on May 23 at approximately 5:25 p.m.

In a separate incident, officers from the Gezawa Division arrested Sama’ila Ado, who was reportedly selling Cannabis Sativa at a known hotspot. Ado was found with 130 wraps and half a block of the substance. Additionally, Umar Salisu was arrested in the Gezawa Mesanda area, where police discovered 10 wraps of suspected cannabis and two bottles of rubber solution.

Authorities confirmed that all suspects will face charges in court following ongoing investigations. Police are also working to identify other members of the drug network.

Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori commended the officers for their dedication and professionalism while acknowledging the valuable support of residents. He emphasized the importance of community involvement in reporting suspicious activities, reaffirming the police’s commitment to addressing drug-related offenses and ensuring public safety throughout the state.
