Airstrike in Niger neutralises terrorists, disrupts planned attacks in Rafi and Mariga communities
Nigerian Air Force Conducts Airstrikes in Niger State
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced successful airstrikes against terrorists during Operation Fansan Yamma in Niger State, specifically targeting the Rafi and Mariga Local Government Areas. The airstrikes were conducted between May 20 and May 23, based on credible intelligence regarding terrorist movements and plans for coordinated attacks on local communities and security installations.
Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, reported that initial strikes aimed at gathering of terrorists near Tungan Bako and Kasuwan Daji in Rafi LGA were executed with precision.
On May 21, further operations followed, after surveillance identified terrorists traveling on motorcycles and on foot, accompanied by stolen cattle, moving from Tungunguna toward Uregi. The air force effectively neutralized their escape routes.
Additional reconnaissance missions on May 23 over Dogon Dawa and nearby areas in Mariga LGA led to airstrikes that successfully disrupted potential attacks on military positions.
Ejodame noted that post-operation assessments indicated a significant number of terrorists were neutralized, marking a continued effort to diminish terrorist capabilities in the region.
