Ekiti court jails man for stealing, dismisses armed robbery charge

Ekiti State Court Sentences Man to Three Years for Theft
Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State — An Ekiti State High Court has sentenced Oluwapelumi Adewale Ogundipe to three years in prison for theft. The court found Ogundipe guilty in a ruling made in Suit No. HAD/32C/2025, State vs. Ogundipe Oluwapelumi Adewale, before High Court 4.
Ogundipe was initially charged with conspiracy and armed robbery in connection with an incident involving the victim, Alasi Kolawole. The prosecution argued that Ogundipe, along with others, had conspired to rob Kolawole, a serious offense under Ekiti State law.
During the trial, prosecution attorney Kunle Sina Adeyemo, Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions in Ekiti State, presented evidence to support the charges. After reviewing the case, Justice A.A. Adeleye determined that while the evidence did not fully substantiate the armed robbery charge, it did support the lesser charge of stealing.
Consequently, Justice Adeleye convicted Ogundipe of theft and imposed a three-year sentence. He was represented in court throughout the proceedings by his attorney, A.O. Okeya.
This judgment reflects ongoing efforts by the Ekiti State Ministry of Justice to secure convictions in criminal cases and uphold accountability for offenses within the state.
