Three Suspected Kidnappers Arrested in Edo State
JATTU, Edo State – A combined team of security operatives has apprehended three individuals suspected of involvement in a kidnapping incident at Jattu market in the Etsako West Local Government Area.
According to the Edo State Police Command and the Edo State Security Corps (ESSC), the suspects were identified by victims of the abduction. The arrests were confirmed by Assistant Superintendent of Police Eno Ikoedem during a press briefing in Benin City.
The suspects have been identified as Nura Dahiru, 22; Ibrahim Yakubu, 25; and Abubakar Inusa, 23. Ikoedem reported that two victims, including Mrs. Ibrahim Jemila, recognized Dahiru and Yakubu as members of the kidnapping gang responsible for their abduction.
The incident unfolded on May 15, 2026, around 5:50 p.m., when the Divisional Police Officer at Jattu Division received credible tips regarding one of the kidnappers sighted at the market. Following this information, police operatives, in collaboration with ESSC members, moved quickly to arrest the suspects at the location.
Ikoedem stated, “During the investigation, two of the suspects, Nura Dahiru and Ibrahim Yakubu, have been positively identified by Jemila and another victim as part of the gang involved in their abduction.”
She characterized this arrest as a significant advancement in the ongoing efforts of the police command to combat kidnapping and violent crime throughout the state.
