Man allegedly confesses to framing hunter as Boko Haram member in Yobe

Mittiri Village Resident Admits to False Accusation Against Local Hunter

Yobe State, Nigeria — Ibrahim Mittiri, a resident of Mittiri Village, has confessed to falsely accusing a local hunter of being associated with Boko Haram, stemming from a long-standing personal dispute.

The case came to light following a social media post by security analyst Zagazola Makama. According to security sources, the situation escalated on May 24 when Mittiri informed another villager, Umar Abdullahi—commonly known as Gajeri—that the hunter, Aji Ibrahim, had ties to the terrorist organization.

This allegation reached troops from Sector 2, operating under Operation Hadin Kai, leading to the arrest of the hunter. However, during the preliminary investigation, authorities uncovered that the accusation was linked to a seven-year personal feud between Mittiri and Ibrahim, a dispute that remains active in court.

Sources reported that during interrogation, Mittiri admitted that his claims were unfounded and motivated by his grievances with the hunter. He expressed intentions of getting Ibrahim arrested, possibly subjecting him to mistreatment by security forces.

Further investigations revealed that both Mittiri and Abdullahi may have been involved in intelligence-gathering activities for local groups, receiving monthly stipends for their efforts.

Both suspects are now in custody and face further investigation and potential prosecution for making false accusations and misusing security processes.
