Correct your headline, I never quit my senatorial race – Aisha Yesufu to media

Human Rights Activist Clarifies Senate Ambitions
Aisha Yesufu, a prominent human rights activist, has insisted that she has not withdrawn from her senatorial race under the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). This statement comes in response to media reports suggesting she had stepped down from the contest.
In a post on her verified X account on Saturday, Yesufu urged journalists to correct headlines that misrepresented her position in the race. She emphasized that she remained committed to her candidacy until the conclusion of the primary.
According to Yesufu, the focus of the upcoming electoral cycle should be on the 2027 presidential election. She expressed her intention to support the strongest candidate in that race, stating that her efforts will be directed toward that goal.
“To all media houses, I did not quit. I did not step down. Correct your headline,” she wrote. “Let no media house rewrite history. Correct your headlines. Posterity is watching.”
She further clarified her stance on the primary, asserting that while a flawed process declared another candidate the winner, she chose to accept the outcome in the interest of party unity as a larger electoral battle approaches.
