Be bold, join Peter Obi’s campaign – Bwala to Arise TV’s Rufai Oseni

Presidential Spokesman Criticizes Arise Television Anchor

Presidential spokesman Daniel Bwala criticized Arise Television anchor Rufai Oseni on social media, suggesting that Oseni serves as an unofficial spokesman for Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

In a post on X on Monday, Bwala claimed that Oseni’s recent questioning of Obi regarding policy issues, specifically electricity generation, aims to mask his support for the former Anambra State governor.

Obi recently committed to expanding Nigeria’s electricity generation and distribution capacity to at least 10,000 megawatts (MW) within four years if elected President in 2027. He made this pledge during the NDC’s national convention in Abuja on Saturday, where he was confirmed as the party’s presidential candidate.

Bwala challenged Oseni to publicly declare his political affiliation by taking a leave of absence from Arise Television and joining Obi’s campaign. He urged the broadcaster to demonstrate his commitment to Obi’s political agenda directly, rather than continuing his media role while allegedly supporting the candidate.

“That anchor thinks he is deceiving us by challenging @PeterObi on his plans to generate power as if he is not the unofficial spokesman of Peter Obi,” Bwala stated. “Be courageous and bold and be a man by taking a leave of absence or sabbatical from Arise News and join Peter Obi’s campaign.”
