Troops Arrest Two Suspects in Jos South, Recover Ammunition
JOS SOUTH, Plateau State — Troops from Operation Safe Peace arrested two suspects and recovered ammunition in a stop-and-search operation early Tuesday morning in the Zawan area of Jos South Local Government Area.
The operation occurred around 4:30 a.m. as soldiers from Sector 6 conducted routine checks on a commercial vehicle, according to information shared on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama.
The suspects were identified as Patience John, 28, and Shamsu Ibrahim, 29. During the search, soldiers reportedly found two rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition hidden in a bag belonging to one of the suspects. A rubber item suspected to be linked to drug use was also discovered at the scene.
The suspects have been taken into custody for further investigation. Security sources indicated that authorities are examining the origins of the ammunition and any potential connections to broader criminal activities.
Further actions will be determined based on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
