IBADAN, Nigeria — Protesters expressing their anger over a recent abduction incident in Oyo clashed with police officers on Wednesday in the state capital, Ibadan.

The confrontation escalated as frustrated demonstrators expressed their distress over the ongoing situation, with children reportedly held captive by kidnappers. Some protesters raised their voices, questioning the police’s handling of the crisis.

“How can you ask me to remain calm while our children are still in the bush with kidnappers?” one protester shouted. “A teacher was beheaded. I have the right to express my outrage.”

Protesters demanded the immediate and unconditional release of the victims and urged law enforcement to intensify their efforts to confront the kidnappers.

“You should have gone into the bush and brought the victims back alive,” another protester added, directing their frustration towards the officers present.

The incident reflects the growing concerns among residents regarding safety and security in the region following a wave of kidnappings.
