Gov Alia appoints Eunice Ogbenyi Acting Head of Service in Benue

Benue State Appoints Dr. Ihu Eunice Ogbenyi as Acting Head of Service
Benue State Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has appointed Dr. Ihu Eunice Ogbenyi as the Acting Head of Service, following the passing of Dr. Agbogbo Ode, who held the position from 2023 until his death.
Dr. Ogbenyi, originally from the Oju Local Government Area of Benue State and born on June 12, 1973, previously served as the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Lands and Survey. Her civil service career began in 1998 when she joined the Benue State Teaching Service Board as a Principal Assistant Education Officer. In February 2012, she was transferred to the Ministry of Education.
Throughout her career, Dr. Ogbenyi has advanced through various roles, including Deputy Director of Education in the Department of Planning, Research, and Statistics. In that capacity, she managed the Joint Consultative Committees on Education/National Council on Education unit and contributed to the Education Management Information System.
Dr. Ogbenyi holds a Nigeria Certificate in Education in Mathematics/Physics, which she obtained in 1996 from the College of Education, Oju. She later earned a Bachelor of Science in 2005, a Master’s degree in 2010, and a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education in 2021, all from Fr. Adasu University, Makurdi.
Upon announcing her appointment, Governor Alia emphasized the importance of professionalism and service delivery in her new role. He urged her to adhere to the principles and priorities necessary for effective stewardship and to align her official actions with the vision and reform agenda of his administration.
“Ensure that the sanctity of the office is upheld and prioritize the interest of the state in all dealings,” the governor stated.
