Bauchi politician Farouk Mustapha denies VP slot talks with Seyi Makinde

Former Bauchi State Aspirant Denies Vice-Presidential Nomination Rumors
BAUCHI, Nigeria — Farouk Mustapha, a former governorship aspirant in Bauchi State, has refuted claims of being considered for a vice-presidential nomination by Seyi Makinde, the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
In a statement released on Friday, Mustapha characterized the circulating reports on social media as unfounded. He emphasized that he has had no discussions with Makinde regarding a potential running mate position.
“My attention has been drawn to speculations making the rounds on social media alleging that the APM presidential candidate is considering me as his running mate in the forthcoming election,” Mustapha stated. “For the avoidance of doubt, I wish to state categorically that no such arrangement has been discussed with me, nor have I given my consent to any such proposition.”
Mustapha asserted that he remains content with his current standing and has not engaged in dialogue with party members about the vice-presidential slot. “At no point have I had any discussion with anyone, whether within the APM or with its presidential candidate, regarding the position of running mate. Therefore, any claim suggesting that I have agreed to such an arrangement is entirely false and without foundation,” he added.
The clarification follows inquiries from journalists, supporters, and associates expressing concern over the rumors. Mustapha referenced a Hausa proverb: “Kowa ya san matar auren sa” (everyone knows his own bride), emphasizing the need to dispel the misconceptions for the benefit of all involved.
He urged supporters and residents of Bauchi State to disregard the rumors, describing them as mere speculation. Additionally, Mustapha revealed that he is currently in Saudi Arabia, where he is engaged in prayer and seeking divine guidance regarding his future political pathway.
He expressed gratitude to his supporters for their concern and continued encouragement.
