Rainstorm kills woman, granddaughter in Bauchi

A rainstorm in the Kirfi Local Government Area of Bauchi State has resulted in the deaths of a 50-year-old woman and her four-year-old granddaughter. The victims, Aisha Sagir and Aisha Shuaibu, lost their lives due to severe weather conditions in Katsinawa Bara Village on Wednesday morning.
According to the Bauchi State Police Command, heavy rain and strong winds began at around 10 a.m., causing significant destruction to homes, livestock, and other property valued in the millions of naira.
In a statement, police spokesman SP Nafiu Ahmed characterized the event as a tragic weather-related disaster that has left the local community in mourning. Officers from the Kirfi Divisional Police Headquarters have been dispatched to the area to assess the damage, assist affected residents, and maintain public order.
Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu extended condolences to the families of the deceased and to residents impacted by the storm. He expressed sympathy for those who lost their homes and livelihoods, offering prayers for their strength and comfort during this difficult time.
The police commissioner reassured residents that the command would collaborate with relevant agencies in emergency response efforts. He urged the public to remain vigilant and report emergencies promptly during the rainy season.
