Davido draws global attention to abducted Oyo schoolchildren at World Cup Concert

Nigerian Singer Davido Raises Awareness of Abductions During Los Angeles Concert
LOS ANGELES — Nigerian singer David Adeleke, known as Davido, highlighted the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State during his performance at the FIFA World Cup Countdown Concert on Wednesday night.
Wearing a custom jacket adorned with the names of 39 kidnapped children and seven teachers, Davido made a powerful statement. The words “Bring Them Home” were prominently displayed on the back of his jacket, reinforcing his message.
Throughout his set, which included his hit song “Fall,” Davido showcased the jacket to draw attention to the plight of those still in captivity. This performance marks another instance of the artist expressing his concern over the ongoing issue of insecurity in Nigeria. Previously, he has used social media to urge authorities to expedite the rescue of the abductees.
In related news, Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy is scheduled to perform at the FIFA World Cup Opening Ceremony in Mexico City, alongside singer Shakira. The two collaborated on the official 2026 World Cup anthem, “Dia Dia,” and are expected to perform it live.
Additionally, fellow Nigerian artist Rema will take the stage at the U.S. opening ceremony in Los Angeles, performing alongside other international stars.
