Benue youths take fight to kidnappers, rescue victims, apprehend suspects

Community Youths Lead Rescue of Abducted Individuals in Benue State
Ugbokolo, Benue State — A community-led initiative in Ugbokolo, located in the Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State, has resulted in the rescue of several abducted individuals and the arrest of three suspected kidnappers.
Local sources indicate that the abductions occurred on Tuesday along the Ugbokolo–Aokpe Road, a route commonly used by residents and travelers in the region. Following reports of the incident, local youths mobilized to conduct a search operation aimed at locating both the victims and their captors.
The community’s efforts were successful, leading to the safe recovery of the abducted individuals and the apprehension of three suspects. One relative of a victim has alleged that the suspects are of Fulani descent. However, the identities of both the rescued victims and the arrested individuals have not been disclosed.
This incident underscores ongoing security concerns along rural roads in Benue State and highlights the increasing involvement of community members in local security initiatives.
Efforts to obtain further information from the Benue State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Udeme Edet, were unsuccessful at the time of this report.
