‘It’s wrong’ – Shehu Sani reacts as Senate declares Mele Kyari wanted

Former Lawmaker Criticizes Senate’s Decision to Declare Mele Kyari Wanted
Former federal lawmaker Shehu Sani has criticized the Senate’s recent decision to declare Mele Kyari, the former Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, wanted.
The upper legislative chamber made this declaration following allegations of Kyari’s involvement in a fraud scheme amounting to approximately 210 trillion naira between 2017 and 2023. The Senate had previously invited Kyari to respond to these allegations but reported that he failed to appear on multiple occasions.
In a statement on his official Facebook page, Sani expressed his concerns about the Senate’s approach. He noted that Kyari has a history of complying with invitations from the National Assembly and urged lawmakers to consider this record in their actions.
Sani stated, “Declaring Mele Kyari ‘wanted’ by the Senate without following due process regarding his excuses for absence is wrong. To be fair to him, he has consistently respected National Assembly invitations and defended himself.”
