The Nigerian military’s Sector 2, under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, reported the neutralization of two terrorists, the rescue of three kidnapped individuals, and the recovery of several arms and items during operations in the Zurmi and Shinkafi Local Government Areas of Zamfara State.

Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the 8 Division Nigerian Army, shared the updates in a statement on Saturday. He noted that the operations took place on June 12 as part of ongoing efforts to combat banditry and terrorism in the area.

Troops on a patrol encompassing Birnin Saba, Yanbuki, and Sabon Garin Daudawa engaged a group of terrorists in Yanbuki District, resulting in the death of one assailant. Recovered items from the scene included rifles, four loaded ammunition magazines, two motorcycles, seven mobile phones, two MP3 players, woodland camouflage trousers, and a tactical vest.

Following this encounter, the troops proceeded to Sabon Garin Daudawa, where they found that the terrorists had abandoned their camp, which was subsequently cleared and destroyed by soldiers.

In a separate operation along the Shinkafi-Moriki axis, troops ambushed suspected terrorists, killing one. They recovered an AK-47 rifle, five magazines, a Baofeng communication radio, two motorcycles, and various charms.

The military confirmed the safe recovery of three kidnapped victims during these operations. The victims are currently receiving care, and efforts are underway to reunite them with their families.
