Governor Bala Mohammed Expresses Support for Oyo’s Seyi Makinde Following Kidnapping Incident
Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed visited Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde in Ibadan on Sunday to express condolences regarding the recent abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in the Oriire Local Government Area.
During his visit to Makinde’s private residence, Mohammed was accompanied by leaders from the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), including the party’s National Chairman, Alhaji Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, and the Bauchi governorship candidate, Dr. Yakubu Adamu.
Following the meeting, Mohammed emphasized the purpose of his visit: to show solidarity with the Oyo State government and support the families affected by the kidnapping. He called for robust national security reforms, advocating for a thorough review of Nigeria’s security system. Mohammed highlighted the necessity for enhanced coordination among security agencies and urged citizens to collaborate more closely with law enforcement to fortify public safety.
“We are here to commiserate with Governor Makinde over the abduction of schoolchildren and their teachers,” Mohammed stated. He commended Makinde’s ongoing efforts to secure the victims’ release and expressed optimism for a swift resolution.
The Bauchi governor linked issues of insecurity to poverty, ineffective governance, and economic struggles, urging Nigerians to remain vigilant and refrain from sharing information that could benefit criminal organizations. He also underscored the importance of credible leadership at all levels as a crucial factor in addressing the country’s security and development challenges.
Additionally, Mohammed congratulated Makinde on his political role within the APM, praising him for his vision and leadership.
Among those present to receive the Bauchi governor were the Secretary to the Oyo State Government, Prof. Musibau Babatunde; the Commissioner for Public Works and Transport, Hon. Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola; and Chief Bayo Lawal, Senior Executive Assistant on General Duties.
