Military Operation Repels Attack in Kebbi State

KADUNA — Troops engaged in Operation Fansan Yamma successfully thwarted an attack by suspected Lakurawa terrorists and seized various weaponry in Kebbi State, the military reported on Monday.

The engagement occurred on Sunday near Dogon Daji in the Dandi Local Government Area, involving forces from the 8 Division under Sector 2. According to the military report, the troops encountered the assailants during a proactive operation, resulting in a firefight where the attackers were outmatched and subsequently retreated.

In the aftermath, military personnel pursued the fleeing suspects and conducted follow-up operations in the vicinity. Recovered items included rocket-propelled grenade launch tubes, rocket-propelled grenades, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), two motorcycles, a charger, and various personal items believed to have been abandoned by the attackers.

Officials stated that there were no reported casualties among the troops during the encounter. The operation is part of broader efforts by Operation Fansan Yamma aimed at dismantling terrorist and bandit networks in the North-West region.

The military noted that ongoing offensive actions have been effective in disrupting the logistics and activities of criminal groups. Further operations are planned to locate the fleeing suspects and consolidate the gains achieved during the recent engagement.
