Attack at National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies Results in Fatalities
KURU, Nigeria — Suspected gunmen launched an attack on the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) late Monday night, resulting in the deaths of two soldiers and a police officer.
Dr. Osime Samuel, Head of Public Affairs at NIPSS, confirmed the incident in a statement, noting that the victims were on duty at the institute’s staff quarters when the assault occurred.
“The National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, wishes to inform the public that a security incident occurred in the vicinity of the Institute in the early hours of today,” the statement read.
The institute assured the public that normal operations have resumed following the attack and emphasized that “there is currently no threat to the safety of participants, staff, residents, or facilities of the Institute.”
