Kwara Govt bans school graduation ceremonies amid security concerns

Kwara State Government Bans Graduation Ceremonies in Schools
Kwara State, Nigeria—The Kwara State Government has issued a ban on all public and private schools from holding graduation, valedictory, or similar end-of-session ceremonies.
The directive was confirmed in a letter from the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, signed by Mrs. Bunmi Osanupin on behalf of Commissioner Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe. The letter was addressed to Professor Raheem Adaramaja, Chairman of the State Universal Education Board (SUBEB), and was made public by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Ilorin.
The decision is attributed to ongoing security challenges in the region, with officials citing the necessity of maintaining order and safety within educational institutions.
All school proprietors, principals, headteachers, and administrators are expected to comply with the directive. The letter warns that any school found in violation may face appropriate sanctions according to existing regulations.
The government urges all stakeholders to adhere to this notice.
