Delta State Mobile Court Convicts 23 for Traffic Offenses
A Mobile Court in Delta State has convicted 23 individuals for various traffic offenses, imposing fines based on the gravity of each infraction. Additionally, three defendants were discharged and acquitted.
The Delta State Police Command announced the outcomes in a statement issued by Police Public Relations Officer Bright Edafe. The convictions are part of a broader effort to enforce traffic regulations throughout the state.
According to the statement, a total of 26 vehicles were impounded for assorted traffic-related violations and subsequently brought before the Mobile Court established for expedited adjudication by the Delta State Government.
Edafe noted that the enforcement initiative aligns with directives from the Inspector-General of Police and reflects the command’s commitment to enhancing road safety and ensuring public order. The operation aims to address traffic violations that pose risks to public safety and disrupt the orderly use of the roadways.
Following the court proceedings, Edafe confirmed that 23 offenders received convictions, while three were acquitted. This outcome, he stated, underscores the command’s commitment to rigorous enforcement of traffic laws through transparent and lawful procedures.
Commissioner of Police Yemi Oyeniyi reiterated the command’s determination to maintain the enforcement initiative across the state, warning that violators of traffic regulations will face appropriate legal consequences.
Oyeniyi urged motorists to ensure their vehicles are properly registered and documented and to adhere to all traffic regulations at all times.
