Content creator, Jarvis tackles Ycee over comments shading her husband, Peller

Nigerian Content Creator Jarvis Responds to Ycee’s Comments

Nigerian content creator Jarvis has reacted to remarks made by singer Ycee regarding her partner, Peller. During a recent episode of the Afropolitan podcast, Ycee referenced Peller, describing him as part of an “Olodo uprising,” a term suggesting a decline in the value placed on intelligence and academic achievement in Nigeria.

Ycee criticized the current social climate, positing that individuals are becoming celebrated more for sensational content than for educational accomplishments. He remarked, “We now have an Olodo uprising, and it is terrible,” adding that society seems to accommodate a growing population that lacks educational grounding.

He further stated, “There is a massive attack on the educational system in Nigeria. If we keep rewarding these guys, people will start to believe all they need to do is say or do something dumb, outrageous, or obscene online to get the clicks and numbers.”

In a response shared via social media, Jarvis defended her content and Peller, attributing the rise of digital creators in Nigeria to a lack of job opportunities from the government. She stated, “The government didn’t provide jobs for us; what exactly did you expect people to do?”

Jarvis, who holds a university degree, challenged Ycee’s assumptions about educational values, questioning his framing of her content as part of a “Peller culture.” She emphasized, “Just because we’re acting funny and trying to earn a living, you’re telling us that we don’t want to have education? So what about me, who graduated from university?”
