Fire Breaks Out at Bazaar in Western Tehran, No Injuries Reported

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — A significant fire erupted at a bustling bazaar in western Tehran early Tuesday, sending thick columns of black smoke over the Iranian capital.

Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the blaze, which ignited in the Jannat Abad neighborhood, known for its crowded stalls and shops. As of now, officials report no injuries as a result of the fire.

Tehran emergency services operations commander Mohammad Behnia confirmed that the fire has been widespread, visible from various locations across the city. Jalal Maleki, spokesman for the city’s fire department, stated that crews managed to bring the blaze under control. He added that efforts to remove smoke and conduct spot-check operations were ongoing.

State television reported that firefighters were dispatched promptly to contain the incident. Further updates are expected as authorities continue to assess the situation.
