Adamawa State Police Arrest 33 Suspects in Criminal Raids
YOLA, Nigeria — The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended 33 individuals suspected of involvement in various criminal activities, including armed robbery and drug-related offenses.
The arrests occurred during targeted raids aimed at locations known for harboring youth gangs referred to as “Shila Boys.”
Police Public Relations Officer SP Suleiman Nguroje announced on Monday that the operation took place on Saturday, June 27. It involved collaboration among Divisional Police Officers who focused on identified criminal hotspots.
Nguroje specified the locations where the raids were conducted, including Bamgel Mafias Quarters, Yolde Pate Junction/New Road, behind LCCN Church, Shagari Phase II, Sabon Fegi, Unguwan Burauba, Mbamoi, Hayin Gada, Anguwan Tsamiya, Anguwan Fulani, Sokoto Street, and Yola Market, spanning Yola South and Girei local government areas.
“The suspects are currently undergoing screening and profiling,” Nguroje stated. “Those found culpable will face charges in accordance with the law, while investigations will continue to explore their potential involvement in other crimes.”
During the operation, authorities seized various items, including one cutlass, one knife, 10 razor blades, substances believed to be illegal, and dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
