Kano court sentences armed robber to d3ath by hanging

The Kano State High Court, presided over by Justice Nasir Saminu, on Wednesday sentenced one Abdurrahman Yakubu to death by hanging for armed robbery.

Yakubu of Bele Local Government Area in Nassarawa State was found guilty of multiple counts of armed robbery with dangerous weapons.

His victims included a woman identified as Barrister Hajara Lawal Ahmad, from whom he stole a car and an unspecified sum of money.

The presiding judge, Justice Saminu, said the court found that the government lawyer, Barrister Umar Yakubu, proved his case beyond reasonable doubt and thus dismissed the defence put forward by Abdurrahman.

The court further found that firearms recovered from Abdurrahman were illegal and were being put to criminal use; hence, he was now to be executed by hanging.
