KARSANA WEST DISTRICT, FCT — Godswill Akpabio, the President of the Senate, praised Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), during a commissioning ceremony on Friday. Akpabio described Wike as a capable minister who has demonstrated significant performance in his role, attributing some of this success to lessons learned from his own leadership.
The remarks came during the inauguration of access roads to the Renewed Hope cities and estates in Karsana West District, an event commemorating President Bola Tinubu’s third year in office. Akpabio represented the president at the ceremony.
Recalling a past visit by Wike to Akwa Ibom State, where Akpabio served as governor, he recounted Wike’s impressions of the infrastructure efforts underway. Wike reportedly expressed his determination to deliver results wherever he serves.
“Wike, the former governor of Rivers State, once saw the substantial work I was doing and vowed to make a mark,” Akpabio stated. “He even examined my drainage system, emerging with a handkerchief, bewildered by the condition he had observed.”
Akpabio continued, emphasizing Wike’s work ethic, saying, “You have performed excellently well in your position. I even asked you to moderate your efforts; if every leader did all the work, there would be no need for others to follow.”
He concluded by stating that hard work has become ingrained in Wike’s approach to governance, wishing him continued success in his future endeavors.
