Four Arrested in Yola for Armed Robbery and Criminal Conspiracy

YOLA, Adamawa State — Four individuals were apprehended by the Adamawa State Police Command at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) lodge located in the Specialist Hospital area on Tuesday. The suspects, identified as Elkana Ishaya, Mubarak Abubakar, Musa Umar, and Kabiru Tanko, face charges including criminal conspiracy, possession of dangerous weapons, criminal trespass, and robbery.

The arrests followed an investigation by the police personnel from the Karewa Area Command, which also resulted in the recovery of four mobile phones reported stolen from the victims.

According to a police report, the incident occurred on June 27 when the suspects, armed with dangerous weapons, entered the lodge—commonly referred to as the Corpers’ Lodge—where they stole valuables from approximately 36 corps members.

Police officials stated that the suspects would be charged in court upon completion of the investigation. Authorities anticipate further recoveries of stolen property and additional arrests related to the ongoing investigation, as some accomplices remain at large.

Commissioner of Police Kabir Hassan emphasized the police’s commitment to ensuring the safety of the public, particularly for corps members, and urged residents to report any suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest police station to help combat crime in the area.
