World Cup 2026: ‘Brazil is gone’ – Sunday Oliseh reacts as Norway beats Ancelotti’s team

Sunday Oliseh Critiques Brazil’s Performance After World Cup Exit

Former Super Eagles captain and coach Sunday Oliseh has offered a critical evaluation of Brazil following their unexpected 2-1 defeat to Norway in the Round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

In a match held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, Manchester City forward Erling Haaland played a pivotal role, scoring both of Norway’s goals. He first found the net in the 80th minute, adding a second ten minutes later, and securing a historic win for Norway over the five-time world champions.

Brazil’s Neymar converted a penalty deep into stoppage time, but the score was merely a consolation as the team faced its earliest World Cup elimination since 1990.

Norway’s victory marks a significant milestone, as the nation advances to the quarterfinals of the World Cup for the first time in its history.

In response to Brazil’s performance, Oliseh expressed disappointment regarding the team’s current state, lamenting that Brazil no longer embodies the formidable presence that once intimidated its competitors. He criticized the squad for lacking the identity and quality that made the Seleção a powerhouse in international football.

On social media platform X, Oliseh remarked, “Erling Haaland’s second goal tells you everything you need to know. Look at the tactical shape, look at the body language—the Brazil we used to know is completely gone. This Brazil side is sadly and completely playing “ordinary.” Bravo Norway. This World Cup continues to amaze!”

Following their remarkable victory, Norway is set to face either Mexico or England in the quarterfinals in Miami on July 11.
