NSC suspends NFF elective congress
The National Sports Commission (NSC) has announced the suspension of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) elective congress, which was scheduled to take place on September 27, 2026, in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
According to the NSC, a new electoral process will be initiated following comprehensive reforms that will be developed in consultation with the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) and the Confederation of African Football (CAF). This decision follows the recent resignations of key NFF officials.
Ibrahim Gusau, the President of the NFF, made his resignation public during a press conference in Abuja on Thursday. Additionally, General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi and other members of the Executive Committee have also stepped down.
In response to these changes, the NSC has appointed Emmanuel Ikpeme as interim General Secretary and Ademola Olajire as Deputy Secretary General.
