PFIPC scandal: ‘I’m a victim’ – Reps Deputy Speaker reveals encounter with Adeyemi

Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu Denounces Fake Council Association

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, expressed concerns on Wednesday regarding his unintentional involvement with a fraudulent organization known as the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).

Speaking during a plenary session, Kalu revealed that images of him alongside the self-proclaimed Director-General of the PFIPC, Adeniyi Adeyemi, have circulated widely in media outlets.

“I found myself depicted next to the purported Director-General of this organization,” Kalu stated. “I was a victim,” he added, referencing the misrepresentation.

Kalu recounted that his office received a letter in May 2025, which featured the Presidency’s letterhead alongside the PFIPC’s branding. “Upon reviewing the letter, I noted the address listed as Federal Secretariat Complex, Phase Three, Central Business District. The content was somewhat contradictory, with some details appearing credible while others raised suspicions.”

To verify the legitimacy of the PFIPC, Kalu dispatched a team to the stated address. “They confirmed that this organization existed at the location provided. Based on their findings, I approved a meeting with them,” he said.

Kalu’s statements underscore the ongoing concerns regarding the integrity of organizations claiming governmental affiliations.
