Journalist Zainab Sadiq Released from DSS Custody
Zainab Sadiq, a journalist associated with the presidential campaign of African Action Congress candidate Omoyele Sowore, has been released from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).
Sowore announced Sadiq’s release in a post on his verified account on X late Friday evening. He attributed her freedom to the persistent efforts and intervention of Nigerians both domestically and internationally.
The DSS had previously confirmed Sadiq’s detention, citing her work-related involvement with Sowore.
In his statement, Sowore expressed gratitude to those who advocated for Sadiq’s release, stating, “When people of conscience unite and stand against injustice, repression can be defeated. Welcome back, Zainab.”
