Peter Obi: What should concern all Nigerians on Keyamo’s CCTV claim – OK Movement
OK Movement Responds to Aviation Minister’s Claim About Obi’s Vehicle
The OK Movement, a support group for Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidates Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, has expressed strong discontent regarding comments made by Aviation and Aerospace Development Minister Festus Keyamo. Keyamo asserted that Obi’s vehicle was “unjustly” clamped at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
In a statement issued Friday evening, Keyamo released CCTV footage purportedly showing the vehicle violating airport parking regulations. He subsequently issued a seven-day ultimatum for the former governor of Anambra State to apologize and pay a fine of 25,000 Naira.
Dr. Adefolaseye Adebayo, the South-West Coordinator for OK Movement, criticized the clarity of the CCTV footage, questioning its effectiveness. “If the CCTV cameras at one of our international airports cannot clearly show faces or vehicle registration numbers, that should concern every Nigerian,” Adebayo stated.
She raised concerns about the ministry’s ability to detect and identify criminals, asking, “How do we identify terrorists? How do we track criminals? How do we investigate serious security incidents?”
Adebayo urged Keyamo to acknowledge the lack of adequate security measures, emphasizing the need for improved technology in the aviation sector. She added, “Now Festus Keyamo has told the whole world that, when it comes to CCTV security information, we are not where we should be.”
