Taraba High Court judges proceed on annual vacation

Taraba State Chief Judge Announces 2026 High Court Vacation Schedule

JALINGO, Nigeria — Justice Joel Agya, the Chief Judge of Taraba State, has officially announced the schedule for the 2026 annual vacation of the state’s High Courts. The vacation will begin on Monday, Aug. 3, and conclude on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026.

This announcement was made through Taraba State Legal Notice No. 3 of 2026, which was signed by Justice Agya and released on Sunday.

The vacation period is established in accordance with Order 8 of the High Court Rules 2011, which grants the Chief Judge the authority to set the duration of the court’s annual break by means of a published notification.

Justice Agya confirmed that all divisions of the High Court throughout the state will adhere to this vacation schedule. He noted, however, that urgent matters will continue to be addressed during this time.

Furthermore, he indicated that a judge may hear a case during the vacation if all parties involved submit a joint request for the matter to be considered.

To facilitate the handling of urgent cases during the hiatus, Justice Agya announced the appointment of Justice Clara Kataps as the designated vacation judge.
