Ekiti Court Revokes Bail of APC Governorship Aspirant in Ongoing Trial
Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State — The Ekiti State Magistrate Court has revoked the bail of Abimbola Jumoke Olawumi, an aspirant for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship nomination, amid allegations of blackmail, cyberbullying, and death threats against Yemisi Joluwe, the Chief Executive Officer of YSJ Limited.
Olawumi was first arraigned on July 23, 2026, where she pleaded not guilty to four charges and was granted bail on self-recognition. However, her recent absence from court prompted significant developments.
During the latest proceedings, defense attorney Ayokunle Odunayo Okunade apologized for Olawumi’s absence, citing health issues.
In contrast, Police Prosecutor Samson Osobu disputed this explanation, arguing that Olawumi’s activity on social media on July 26 and 27, 2026, undermined her claims of illness. He asserted that she continued to intimidate and threaten the complainant and other notable figures in Ekiti State during this time.
Osobu characterized Olawumi’s actions as a serious violation of her bail conditions and requested that the court revoke her bail and issue a bench warrant for her arrest.
Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun expressed disappointment over Olawumi’s failure to appear in court, emphasizing that those granted bail must adhere to the conditions imposed by the court. He subsequently revoked her bail and issued a bench warrant, adjourning the case until August 17, 2026, for further hearings.
