Nasarawa Education Board Chairman Visits Family After Pupil’s Death
The Executive Chairman of the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB), Dr. Kassim Muhammad Kassim, visited the family of Shautaha Orduwe, a 10-year-old pupil who died following the collapse of a classroom block at LGEA Primary School in Gada Biyu, Obi Local Government Area, over the weekend.
Dr. Kassim led a delegation of NSUBEB officials on Monday to offer condolences to the bereaved family. The visit came as the community mourned the loss of Orduwe, who was laid to rest in accordance with local customs.
During the visit, Dr. Kassim expressed his sympathy and emphasized the need for acceptance in the face of tragedy. He described the situation as profoundly painful but underscored the belief that death is an unavoidable aspect of life.
In response to the incident, Dr. Kassim announced that NSUBEB would replace the collapsed classroom block with a new structure. Additionally, he approved two employment opportunities for community members as part of the ongoing rural teacher recruitment initiative.
The delegation also assessed the damage to the school facility to determine its immediate needs.
Francis Orduwe, the uncle of the deceased pupil, thanked Dr. Kassim and the NSUBEB management for their support during this difficult time, wishing them a safe return home.
