Former AC Milan Captain Franco Baresi Dies at Age 66
Franco Baresi, the former captain of AC Milan, has passed away at the age of 66. His death was confirmed by the Serie A club in a statement released Friday morning.
“The history of AC Milan is in tears following the passing of Franco Baresi,” the statement read. “His example and profound impact, like his number 6 shirt, will forever be an integral and fundamental part of the Club’s DNA and journey.”
AC Milan extended its condolences to Baresi’s family, echoing the sentiments of fans who mourn his loss during this difficult time.
In 2025, Baresi underwent surgery for a lung nodule. Earlier this year, he was one of the last torchbearers to carry the Olympic flame at the opening ceremony of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.
