Tinubu doesn’t want to be like Venezuelan President, Maduro – SDP chieftain Adebayo

Nigeria’s Tinubu Faces Criticism Amid U.S. Concerns

Adewole Adebayo, a prominent member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has expressed concerns about President Bola Tinubu’s leadership amid recent U.S. criticisms of Nigeria. In a Sunday interview on Channels Television’s ‘Hard Copy,’ Adebayo suggested that Tinubu is attempting to avoid unfavorable comparisons with former Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

Adebayo’s comments came in response to the U.S. designating Nigeria as a country of particular concern, which has drawn attention to the country’s security situation. He criticized Tinubu for what he described as inadequate oversight of the Armed Forces and for being disconnected from the realities facing citizens and military personnel.

“Tinubu has not secured the country properly,” Adebayo remarked, adding that the president only began to pay attention to his duties following U.S. comments regarding Nigeria’s situation. “Why Tinubu is paying attention now is that he doesn’t want to be Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro,” he said.

The ongoing dialogue about Nigeria’s security challenges highlights the increasing pressure on Tinubu’s administration to address both domestic and international concerns effectively.
