‘Remove your wig and gown’ – Judge orders arrest of alleged fake lawyer in Lagos court (VIDEO)

A scene unfolded in the Lagos State High Court on Thursday when a judge ordered the arrest of a man accused of impersonating a lawyer.

The individual, dressed in legal attire, was present in court to represent a client when the judge questioned his credentials. Following these inquiries, the judge directed law enforcement officials to detain the man, stating, “Remove that wig. I’m ordering his arrest right away. Police, arrest him!”

Witnesses reported heightened tension as the alleged impostor attempted to flee the courtroom after the judge’s order.

“This man is not a lawyer,” the judge reiterated, instructing police to apprehend the individual. “Remove your wig and gown. I want you to arrest him.”

This incident comes roughly a month after the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja convicted a 55-year-old man for similar offenses, including impersonating a legal practitioner and fraudulently using a counterfeit seal of the Nigerian Bar Association.

This case raises ongoing concerns regarding the integrity of legal representation within the region.
