ISWAP suffers major blow as troops ambush, neutralise terrorist in Yobe

Troops from the 120 Task Force Battalion, in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), successfully neutralized a terrorist and seized weapons during an ambush operation in the Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The operation occurred at approximately 11 a.m. on September 1, 2026, in the Lamusuri region, according to a statement from counter-terrorism expert Zagazola Makama, posted on X.
During the ambush, the joint forces effectively engaged the terrorists, resulting in the elimination of one attacker. The troops recovered an AK-47 rifle, two magazines, 90 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and a body pouch.
Makama reported that the seized weapons and ammunition have been secured in military custody for further examination.
He emphasized that this operation is part of ongoing efforts by the military unit known as Operation HADIN KAI, which focuses on disrupting terrorist activities and preventing armed groups from gaining unrestricted movement throughout Yobe State.
