Trump Media & Technology Group Reports Significant Losses in Q2

Published: August 11, 2026

The Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) has announced a net loss of $238 million for the second quarter of 2026, despite generating $1.7 million in revenue. The company provided these figures in a recent filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

According to TMTG, the substantial shortfall was primarily due to $190.4 million in unrealized losses related to digital assets and equity securities. Additional losses included $11.7 million in accrued interest on loans and $8.1 million in stock-based compensation.

The company reported an 89 percent increase in revenue compared to the same period last year; however, its losses continued to exceed earnings. Most of TMTG’s revenue originated from its media segments, including $1.43 million from advertising and $179,500 from subscriptions.

For the first half of 2026, TMTG has recorded total net losses of $644 million against revenues of $2.5 million. Shares of TMTG, traded under the NASDAQ symbol “DJT,” fell 8 percent by market close on Monday.

TMTG owns several platforms, including the social media service Truth Social, the video streaming service Truth+, and the fintech brand Truth.Fi. Recently, the company has expanded into cryptocurrency and, as of August 1, introduced a market intelligence service called Truth API. This subscription service provides investors with quicker access to posts from Truth Social, where former President Donald Trump frequently shares information on policy matters.

During an earnings call on Monday, interim CEO Kevin McGurn announced that 10 companies have subscribed to Truth API, raising concerns over potential conflicts of interest, with fees ranging from $60,000 to $100,000 per month.

Despite Trump’s strong following, Truth Social has struggled to keep pace with competitors like X and Facebook. Data from the online tracking firm Similarweb indicates that visits to Truth Social fell by more than a third in July compared to the same month last year.
