Relatives Mourn Nepali Mountaineers Lost in Avalanche
Kathmandu, Nepal — Family members and friends gathered in mourning as the bodies of three Nepali mountaineers—Kili Pemba Sherpa, Gyalu Sherpa, and Nima Sherpa—were returned to Kathmandu following a deadly avalanche on Broad Peak in Pakistan.
The recovery of the climbers’ bodies comes days after the tragic incident, which underscored the dangers faced by those who pursue high-altitude expeditions. The remains were transported to Tribhuvan International Airport, where they arrived to a somber reception from grieving relatives.
