Suspected Shilla boy allegedly robs minor at knife-point in Adamawa

A 22-year-old man has been remanded in custody after being charged with the armed robbery of a nine-year-old boy in Yola, Adamawa State. Habu Hellere Dauda is accused of allegedly stealing 600 Naira from the child at knifepoint.

The Chief Magistrate Court 3, under the direction of Magistrate Uwani Danladi, ordered Dauda to remain in prison after the police prosecutor, Danjuma Hamidu, presented the case. According to Hamidu, Dauda attacked the boy, identified as Aliyu Mohammed, on Ajiya Street, Jimeta, on August 9.

After the First Information Report was translated for him, Dauda pleaded guilty to the charges. The prosecutor requested his remand in custody to allow for further proceedings and the calling of a witness to support the case.

Magistrate Danladi granted the prosecution’s request, scheduling the next court appearance for August 17 to address the need for corroborating testimony and potentially move forward with a summary trial.

Dauda faces charges of criminal intimidation and shilla gangsterism, violations of Sections 382 and 346 of the Adamawa State Penal Code.
